Olivia Logan has a plan: win back her ex by making him see what he’s missing. But first she needs to find a man who’s willing to play along. With his laid-back cowboy charm and knack for getting under her skin, Luke Hollister is an unlikely hero—but he wants her help convincing her father to sell him land, which means he needs her as much as she needs him.
Luke likes his life—and his women—uncomplicated. So why does good girl Olivia heat his blood like no one else? She’s always been off-limits, but the more time they spend as Gold Valley’s hottest new “couple,” the more real it’s starting to feel. Luke was supposed to help her win back another man…not keep her in his arms. But now that he has her there, he’s not sure he’ll ever let go.
If you want to escape into the world of a sexy cowboy falling for the prim and proper female who also happens to be one of the founding fathers descendants then this book is for you.
You have Olivia Logan who I admit I did not like to start with. I found her quite selfish and quite childish in the way she behaved. I understood that she wanted more from her ex-boyfriend but by trying to force his hand she found herself alone. However in comes the sexy Cowboy Luke Hollister who she has known for years.
Luke I loved from the start, I get that he felt separate from everyone after his tragic past especially with the way he was treated by the people who he worked alongside for years and though of as family.
When Olivia and Luke got together to try and make Olivia’s ex jealous you saw the sparks fly but both of them were fighting with every breathe in their body not to act on it. I understood and actually came to like Olivia after it was explained why she behaves and acted the way she has for so many years.
I am a sucker for a romance book especially when I know how it is going to end. YES I do like to have a happy ending and it being predictable. I did find this slightly rushed and even though I know they have known each other for 20 years I think a bit more background and maybe a few flashback chapters would have been beneficial especially with the secondary characters that come into play throughout the book.
I was able to pick this book up and read it very quickly, it was well written and I enjoyed the romance. Overall an enjoyable contemporary romance book. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
